Mexico operates 2 nuclear power reactors across 1 site, with 1.6 GW of gross capacity.
Operating fleet by type: BWR (2). Principal operator: Comision Federal De Electricidad.
President Sheinbaum's government has said it is not looking to expand nuclear capacity, and the electricity development plan published in October 2025 (2025-2039) includes no new nuclear capacity. Laguna Verde 1 and 2 hold 30-year extensions, to 2050 and 2055. Policy position as read on 2026-11-03: World Nuclear Association, Nuclear Power in Mexico (page dated 2026-07-08).

Fuel supply exposure
The fuel families Mexico's operating reactors take, and the fabricators our sources document as able to make each. This is capability, not contracts: it does not say who actually supplies a given plant.
| Fuel family | Units | GW gross | Documented fabricators | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BWR fuel | 2 | 1.6 | Global Nuclear Fuel, Westinghouse Electric Company, Framatome |
