Armenia operates 1 nuclear power reactor across 1 site, with 0.4 GW of gross capacity. 1 unit has been retired.
Operating fleet by type: PWR (1). Principal operator: Closed Joint Stock Company Armenian NPP.
Armenia plans to build a new nuclear plant, which the prime minister said in October 2025 would be a small modular reactor. A US 123 Agreement on peaceful nuclear cooperation was signed in February 2026. Officials have said investment could extend Metsamor's operation to 2036. Fuel supply exposure
The fuel families Armenia's operating reactors take, and the fabricators our sources document as able to make each. This is capability, not contracts: it does not say who actually supplies a given plant.
| Fuel family | Units | GW gross | Documented fabricators | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VVER (hexagonal) fuel | 1 | 0.4 | TVEL Fuel Company, Westinghouse Electric Company |
